minimum drag speed doesnt make sense to me
ok so i thought minimum total drag would just be wherever induced drag is at its lowest point but the answer key says its actually where induced drag EQUALS profile drag which is a completely different point on the graph?? like why would you add two things together and the minimum of the total isnt just the minimum of one of them. i think i get it but can someone check my thinking
wait does stall angle change or not
so i just did a question that said heavier aircraft = higher stall speed which ok makes sense, but then in the same practice set another question says stall ANGLE stays the same no matter what. so which is it, if the plane stalls at a different speed how is it stalling at the same angle every time. someone explain like im dumb lol
mixing up mass balance and aerodynamic balance
doing m11 practice and keep getting these two confused. mass balance is the weights forward of the hinge line so the surface doesn't flutter, right? and aerodynamic balance (horn, inset hinge etc) is a completely different thing, it's just there to make the surface easier to move for the pilot and has nothing to do with flutter. keep seeing questions that seem to test one when i think it's actually asking about the other. is there an easy way to keep them straight
slat slot vortex generator confusing me
keep mixing these up in practice test. as i understand it - slot is just the gap, slat is the moving panel on leading edge that opens and makes the slot, vortex generator is small separate fin that just re-energises the boundary layer, not making any slot at all. is this correct or am i missing something
why 120 degree for stainless not 118
always use 118 degree drill for normal jobs. why stainless need 120 and slow speed, not fast like i thought for harder metal. is it because it work hardens if you go too fast? anyone know the actual reason not just the answer
